Bateleur Research Solutions was founded in Johannesburg in 1988. From the outset, the vision was to provide a service to our customers of integrating market research data with the business planning process - a step up from the more traditional approach of purveying market research information.

Bateleur was founded by two equal partners - one with an ad agency account-planning background (a civil engineer), and the other with a classical (fmcg) marketing management background (a lawyer). Both
founders are still at the forefront of the business.

The business was grown from first principles with inputs only from customers - we have rarely employed anybody who has previously worked for a market research agency. According to our customers, this makes our work refreshingly different.
